Microchipping
Coit North Veterinary Hospital can help promote your pet’s safety with ResQ™ Pet Identification System by Bayer, an advanced pet identification and retrieval system.
The ResQ™ pet identification system is a safe and convenient ISO-compliant microchip system to help reunite lost pets with their owners. It utilizes technology recommended by most major pet welfare organizations including the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA). Here is how it works:
- A microchip with a unique, individual, preprogrammed identification code is implanted between the shoulder blades of the pet.
- The microchip is approximately the size of a grain of rice, which is implanted into a pet using a single-use syringe.
- The microchip is unbreakable, does not require a battery, and is engineered to last a pet’s lifetime.
- The pet is then enrolled with the PetLink™ Pet Registration Database.
- PetLink™ maintains a national database and provides 24/7 customer support, including contact numbers for non-ResQ microchip manufacturers and protection for pets regardless of their country of origin.
- A ResQ microchip can be read by any ISO-compliant scanning device worldwide.
- When a lost pet is found, it can be scanned at an animal shelter or veterinary hospital.
- The animal’s identification number is called into PetLink™ (1.877.PETLINK), and the pet owner is notified immediately.
